24/7 crisis lines, overdose response, insurance navigation, and family support.

Crisis & Help Lines (24/7)

If Someone Is Overdosing

  1. Call 911 immediately. Louisiana's Good Samaritan law protects callers from drug-possession charges in overdose emergencies.
  2. Give Narcan (naloxone) if available. Spray one dose in a nostril. Repeat in 2–3 minutes if no response.
  3. Lay them on their side (recovery position) so they don't choke if they vomit.
  4. Stay with them until paramedics arrive. Don't leave, even if they wake up.
  5. Don't: put them in a cold shower, inject anything, or assume they're "just sleeping."

Free Narcan in SWLA: Imperial Calcasieu Human Services Authority (337) 475-3100, or any Walgreens/CVS without a prescription.

Insurance Navigation

Most LA Medicaid plans (Healthy Blue, Aetna Better Health, AmeriHealth Caritas, Humana, Louisiana Healthcare Connections, United) cover detox + rehab. Call your card's member services or our help line below.

Helping a Loved One

You can't force someone to get help — but you can stop enabling, set boundaries, and stay safe. Al-Anon and Nar-Anon meetings in Lake Charles meet weekly.

Recovery-Friendly Employers

Local SWLA businesses that hire people in recovery and provide flexibility for meetings, court dates, and counseling. Look for the green badge in our directory.
